Overview

Automation & Electronics' SS2.4G Spread Spectrum Radio allows communications without an FCC License up to 10 miles (16.1 km) with high gain antennas or up to 2 miles (3.2 km) with a standard omni antennas.

The SS2.4G enables customers to add low-cost, frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology to products already in the field. The SS2.4G can be taken out of the box and plugged into a standard serial port to support a wide range of wireless data telemetry applications.

The Automation & Electronics SS2.4G Spread Spectrum Radio operates in the license-free portion of the FCC designated industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) frequency band at 2.4GHz. They are ideal for data transmissions over long distances or in environments hostile to wireless technologies.

The SS2.4G transmits and receives data at 9.6 kbps:

  • Up to 1,500 feet (457 m) indoors
  • Up to 10 miles (16.1 km) line of sight outdoors
  • On any of 550 independent, non-interfering frequencies.
