Automation Electronics DUKS Display and Keyboard

The DUKS is a rugged, hand held, controller powered, display device.

It is designed around a single chip microprocessor which interprets RS-232 ASCII codes from the 608 or 6008 RTU boards, and displays the corresponding information on the LCD display. The microprocessor also scans the key pad for input and then outputs RS-232 ASCII codes to the 608 or 6008 RTU.

Automation Electronics DUKS controller

The DUKS board is a self-contained low power unit, and is powered with +12 VDC from the controller via the 9 pin D connector. All signals to and from the controller are standard RS-232 levels, and this unit can operate as a stand-alone terminal.

Features

It provides a 9,600 or 19,200 baud serial link to the controller, a 4 line by 20 character LCD, and a key pad. It handles most normal ANSI sequences that would be appropriate for it - cursor positioning, clear line, clear screen, etcetera.

The 4 line x 20 character LCD is interfaced with a 14 pin ribbon cable, and the DUKS card provides a potentiometer to adjust the viewing angle.

The key pad is a standard 220 key unit with a custom overlay that includes the digits 0-9, a decimal point, a minus sign, a backspace key, an up arrow, a down arrow, 4 function keys and an enter key.
