There are so many places where you need a password anymore. Sigh!

There are a couple of approaches to take.

  1. Use random passwords for each site and rely on your memory!
  2. Use random passwords for each site and maintain them on a physical disk or memory stick you carry with you - preferably heavily encrypted.
  3. Use a secure password that is hard to guess for all of your private work, an easy to remember password for medium security situations, and an easy throw away password for everything else.

The approach to take is yours alone. The hint field we have supplied is meant to help you remember the phrase you used here. Clearly, if some other individual can access your computer and read your e-mail, knows something about you, and wants to impersonate you on our site, then supplying a password hint phrase may allow that person to break your password easily.

On the other hand, this is a low usage, low risk site, with no credit card information or other information someone is likely to want, so supplying a password hint that would help you to remember what you did here might be better than losing your account history by forgetting the name and password you used and having to create a new account.

In any event, in order to use this feature you must provide an e-mail address in your contact information. The password hint will be e-mailed to you using this e-mail address based on the login name (or just the e-mail address if unique). It will not be mailed to you or given out over the phone to you to prevent anyone from calling up and impersonating you.
